Malaysian Food Street finally

Some of the Spicy Girls went to watch a Charlotte’s Web play today but I opted to give it a miss, especially since the spider dies and I wasn’t impressed by the website of the production company.

Instead, Kaelash and Jeanette came over with Riley and Reagan and I made mac ‘n’ cheese from scratch for the kids. Was trying out yet another internet recipe, it was very creamy and rich and had a number of steps so I might try to search for a simpler recipe.

I did like the idea of breadcrumbs as a topping however but they got pretty oily mixed with all that cheese in the oven…didn’t help that I didn’t notice a stray plastic measuring cup in the oven before turning it on and it melted…hope the kids don’t suffer any ill effects from the melted plastic smell in their food.

Reagan and Sasha got on swimmingly, pretending to be mommies to the dolls and putting them to sleep. They had their own secret conversations, too cute.
In the evening, we ventured to Sentosa for dinner with the Gomezs. We had thought about McDonalds at the Beach Station, but there was some immigration event that had just ended and the place was just too crowded.

So we drove to RWS instead and winded up at the Malaysian Food Street. Took a while to find a table, luckily the kids had already eaten at home. I have been wanting to try this place for the longest time and finally got my chance….had to order an assortment of dishes to try because I don’t know when I will be back!

I had me some assam laksa and prawn mee which I shared with Swana and when I was done, I queued up for the Penang char kway teow which was a lot better than the char kway teows I had in Penang!
The girls went wild in Candylicious after that, I allowed them one packet of naturally coloured Sunkist gummies each. Simple day, simple pleasures.

Germ's flea market

Germaine and Joanne had plans to sell stuff as part of a flea market at Germaine’s office today but plans went awry due to miscommunication and the two fell out before the event started! Nonetheless, Germaine proceeded with her event and I went to kaypoh since it was just in the neighbourhood at Kampong Bahru.
I brought some stuff to display including a Prada bag and her friend bought $20 worth of tops from me, which I channelled back into buying some stuff from Germs, lol. Nat was with me and she was soooooo clingy.

She was so emo last weekend when Nick accidentally threw away Gigi’s science experiment…they had been growing towgay in school in Yakult bottles. Gigi’s one had turned mouldy and Nick threw it in the bin.

When Nat found out, she was worried Gigi would get in trouble and cried before sleeping. So me and Nick made a new one for Gigi, borrowing some sprouts from Nat’s bottle and tried to make it look as close to the original but we only had a Vitagen bottle and I had to find a sticker label. But all’s well that ends well and since then, we grew some of our own sprouts at home to show her the cycle since hers didn’t thrive either.
In the evening we went to Membina for dinner, to meet Judy and Jayna one more time before they headed back to Sydney. Left the bubs with the grandmas and maids and the cousins had a tzechar dinner at the coffeeshop downstairs. The food was surprisingly decent and the girls had a ball blowing bubbles when we got back.

Happy birthday Jayna!

Mildred stayed over last night after catching her and ma’s Mother’s Day pressie of a Julio Iglesias concert at RWS. We all went to church together followed by lunch in town, Geraldine was off today.
I had to collect the lucky draw prize from M1 and we ended up lunching at Fish & Co. Service was slow and they forgot Nick’s order so not likely to go back anytime soon.

In the afternoon while Sasha snoozed, Nick brought Nat to Cara’s 5th birthday party where there was a rainbow theme going on. Then they came back to pick us up for Jayna’s 3rd birthday at Aloha Loyang.

Ananya the Fashionista came with mismatched shoes deliberately, quite cool for a 4 year old!
There was a Barbie-theme going on and Jayna has grown so much…she’s missing out bonding with her cousins and friends here having moved to Sydney with Judy. Sasha, Diya, Reagan and her are all the same age.
Food was biryani, pretty good. There was supposed to be swimming involved but none of the other kids swam because the water was too cold. We saw a litter of kittens nearby the chalet, so cute.

It happened to be Mac’s birthday as well and he and Sajini made an appearance. Cake was from Aunty Yochana, so pretty. It was nice to see the Spicy Girls reunited!

Cammy is 2!

Adri invited us to Camellia’s 2nd birthday at Happy Willow, Fusionopolis today and Joanne and Rayhan came over first to hitch a ride.
The playground isn’t as big as Amazonia or Polliwogs and more suited to younger kids. They have a couple of party rooms and Adri went with a Hello Kitty theme, which was unknown to me when I bought a Hello Kitty hat as part of Cammy’s pressie….so good choice on my part, ha ha.
Nick and Geraldine supervised Nat and Sasha while they played, then we opened ceremony with the lunch though not everything was ready but the children had worked up an appetite by then.

After lunch, the staff conducted a couple of games. As usual Nat sat them out, but Sasha joined in with Geraldine. Ray was very on, and was first to volunteer or raise his hand whenever they needed help.
Cake was a Hello Kitty concoction made by Joanne’s cousin Audrey…it was sweet but I nicely helped myself to 2 slices! The birthday girl was a little cranky towards the end, she’s so cute when she cries!

Sarah is 6

Sarah celebrated her 6th birthday today together with her cousin Samuel who turned 4. The party was held at Flea’s sister Fiona’s place in River Valley, and there was a superhero theme.
I had bought the girls Superman and Batman t-shirts but they refused to wear them so they will probably end up with Jr. Nick was sick and didn’t attend so I brought Geraldine with me.

There was a face painter onsite, she was good but as usual my daughters opted out. Fiona went all out with the props, there was a backdrop for the food and comic-type labels. Most of the kids present were dressed to the theme, so cute lah. There were a couple of Wonder Women, Buzz Lightyear, Flash Gordon, Spiderman and Superman etc.
Nat took a while to warm up but when most guests left, she played with Flea’s nephews Samuel and Noah along with the likes to Sarah, Riley and Gigi. Kevin sent us home first so the kids could nap, but Swana stayed on with Gigi to play in the inflatable pool.
I suppose when junior comes along, I’ll need to start planning boy-themed parties…we can do superheroes, circus, pirates, football, Star Wars, military…there, I have 6 years of themes already!

Let the feasting begin!

It’s Reunion dinner day and since we didn’t have plans till the evening, we brought the girls out to Sentosa with the intention of going to the beach. But the Sentosa Flower Show was on and parts of Siloso closed off so we headed towards Palawan instead.

Gigi joined us with her new scooter and Kavi also came, along with Ananya, Reagan and Riley. Found a small water play area that kept the kids occupied for a good half hour, but that also meant they got really wet and we only had one extra set of clothes which went to Sasha because she was wetter!
Nick suggested lunch at Wave House because it was in the vicinity and guess who we bumped into there? Colin and co, and Jerome and Sylvia etc. They were celebrating Zach’s birthday.
I saw a really nice blue butterfly that I was chasing around, managed to get one shot in.
Dinner was at AMK, we all chipped in with the steamboat ingredients and Mildred had a yusheng prepared. Aunty Lillian joined too and I showed off the new bling and told Mildred I ‘ketuked’ her son, and she said it was OK! Ha ha
