Crepes for lunch and crab for dinner

Met Rena and Jane for lunch at City Hall yesterday, settled on crepes at Out of the Pan.

Jane had a Peking Duck one that was pretty nice, I think I might order that next time. As usual, talk centered around the kids, I think we'll have to make a more conscious effort to talk less about them when Germaine is around or she might be bored! We have lives outside of our kids but inevitably they dominate any conversation because they take up so much of our time!

I've been pretty good on the shopping front for most of this month, so far only buying a tee, a belt and some cheap accessories but I caved when I saw the sale signs up at Accessorize - bought Nat a cute top, some clips and a hairband.

In the evening, I went out with some colleagues for dinner and drinks. A few of us were supposed to do a Christmas thing that never materialised so we thought we'd organise a night out and extend it to a few more people.

I sent out an invite to about a dozen people and about 8 accepted, but one by one they dropped like flies due to CNY shopping, conference calls and the flu bug or some other excuse. The plan was to eat at Jumbo then go Attica and we still sort of achieved that but with a much smaller group.

I met my lunch kaki Sher Vin at Society Bar near OCBC for drinks first. His friend was attending a private event there and had invited him along, and I got dragged in the end. It wasn't so bad, we shared a bottle of champagne and his friend Marlene and I were trying to think of girls we could set him up with. He's a very eligible bachelor and very nice to boot.

An acquaintance of Marlene joined us, an American who moved to Singapore recently from Shanghai and we were talking about food and shopping, she was nice. Can't remember her name though, maybe Christina.

At 8 plus, Sher Vin and I left to meet Serene and her boyfriend Basil at Jumbo Riverside Point. Serene had just landed from Hanoi and was looking forward to her crab dinner. The 4 of us shared a few dishes and when we were done, Phyllis and my boss Phil joined us for part 2 while Serene and Basil made their exit.

We had a drink at Indochine first and then headed to Attica, the crowd was eclectic and the music crappy at points.

Sher Vin had initially wanted to leave after dinner but I made him promise to stay for an hour, but that hour turned into 3 because after he had a few drinks, he was not tired anymore and was in a jolly mood. It was quite funny actually, his is a happy high and he gets hyper! Some law student tried to pick Phyllis up, that was quite funny too and she got teased by us!

Overall it was a bit awkward because my boss was around, I couldn't completely be myself although he didn't seem to have a problem dancing in front of me!
