Natasha's first new year

The pumpkin is 9 months today, the first day of 2011. She slept through the fireworks last night, we could see 3 displays from our balcony, 2 on Sentosa and a pretty major one on Mount Faber.

Made a short pit-stop at Novena Church to say a prayer before heading to town. Had lunch at Spageddies, Orchard Central...that place is so dead, not sure how some of the tenants are surviving. Nat was posing for me at one point while we left Nick to eat his lunch in peace.

Had dessert at Haagen Dazs, shared a banana split with Belgian Chocolate, Strawberry Cheesecake and Macadamia Nut...yums.

Natasha's had a busy month, her two front teeth erupted, she started sitting up on her own from a lying position, she started standing in the cot and playpen, she can clap and she can also wave.

Oh, and she can crawl too! Not very good at it yet because she's only allowed to roam on soft surfaces but she's getting there.

She can't get enough of standing up and is eager to walk. She's constantly clambering over things, trying to stand and she's hard to restrain, very strong this one!

She weighs around 8kg and is eating 3 meals a day. Still mainly double or triple vegetable purees, tried to give her chunkier textures but she wasn't keen.

She takes about 3 naps a day, 30 mins in the morning, 2 hours in the afternoon and another 30 min powernap before dinner. But she must have her bolster and pacifier to sleep, I feel guilty for cultivating the habit!

I seem to be the only one preventing her from watching TV, the rest have resorted to using the TV as a babysitter when they are busy with Nat and Gigi. Tsk tsk.

She's getting pretty vocal, trying to talk and making blabbery sounds. She likes to go, "Ah, ah, ah, ah' in succession, reminding me of Stayin' Alive by the Bee Gees. Sometimes she'll go "mmmmm".

She recognises her name and turns when she hears it but she's also starting to get wary of strangers, seeking comfort in familiar faces.

I liken her to a puppy when she's happy, she's always shaking one leg when sitting down or in the stroller, much like a dog wagging its tail.

I missed her a fair bit when we were in Perth, but it was mainly a case of 'out of sight, out of mind'. I just feel so sorry for her all the time being the youngest and ignored. But she seems to be growing well, hopefully when Nat starts school, more attention can be focused on her during the day.
