I made this a few years ago and got rave reviews, haven't tried it since though!
Spaghetti Bolognaise (The Original)
500 gm of minced beef
500 ml of bottled spaghetti sauce (prefer Prego Mushroom)
2-3 tbsp of tomato paste
1/2 carrot, chopped into small cubes
1/2 green pepper, chopped into small cubes
1/2 large white onion, chopped finely
1 large tomato, chopped
6 fresh button mushrooms or 1 small tin of button mushrooms
A pinch of dried oregano
1/2 tsp of Italian herbs
1 tsp of sugar
1/2 cube of chicken stock
125 ml of water
2 tbsp of olive oil
2 cloves garlic, chopped
Pepper to taste
Serves 4-6

- Heat olive oil in a pot and add garlic and onions. Saute for a minute and add minced beef. Stir fry until the meat is browned and cooked. Add chopped onions, tomatoes, green pepper and mushrooms and stir for a minute before adding dashes of pepper and herbs.
- Add spaghetti sauce, tomato paste, chicken stock cube and water. Stir a while and simmer. Add more herbs and pepper, do a taste test. If too salty, add a little sugar according to taste but not too much at a time. Simmer for 20 mins or until carrots are soft.
- Serve with cooked spaghetti or other pastas.
Serves 4-6
